top-news

In pursuance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of DRUG FREE India (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and acting upon the Hon’ble Union Home Minister’s directives regarding zero tolerance for drugs, NCB Bengaluru Zonal Unit has developed intelligence on persons bringing high grade Cannabis ((Hydroponic Weed) from Thailand to Bengaluru and has intercepted and arrested 05 persons at Kempegowda airport, Bengaluru and seized about 20 kgs. of high-grade Cannabis (Hydroponic Weed).

Interrogation of these persons, who all are in the age group of 25-35 years, has revealed that they were essentially used as mules/carriers to bring the contraband from Thailand by people unknown to them.

These unknown persons in India, who are believed to be a part of trans-national drug trafficking syndicate, sponsored leisure trips of the arrested persons to Thailand on the promise that while returning back to India from Thailand they would have to carry the bag containing Cannabis.  These persons were further given to understand that business of Cannabis is not an offence in India and in case they are intercepted, arrangement would be made for their release.

Public is informed that possession of Cannabis is an offence in India and carries a punishment upto 20 years in prison.  Further, public is advised to be careful against falling in such trap of this trans-national drug syndicate and not carry any baggage handed over by someone without verifying its contents.

Public is also requested to inform NCB if they receive such call about sponsorship of their leisure trip abroad or any information about drug trafficking at MANAS helpline number 1933.
