Radio Udaan Heart's Purple Fashion Show

The visually impaired participant captivated the audience with their bold designs and confidence during the fashion show. The first-ever national solo fashion show for the totally blind and low-vision, male-female category has been performed on the ramp by the more energetic contestants. All the participants were full of energy and spirit to perform. The Radio Udaan team took the initiative. They are the history makers and set the milestone for others.

February 16, 2025, Panchkula— The fashion show last night left audiences breathless as designers showcased their latest collections, which were specially designed for visually impaired persons with disability, and this initiative was taken by Radio Udaan. Held at Jatt Bhavan, Panchkula, the runway was filled with avant-garde designs, vibrant colors, and bold patterns, signaling the start of a new era in fashion. The show has been witnessed by the esteemed guests Harpreet Kaur Babla—Mayor, Chandigarh; Mr. Malik—Chairperson, Jatt Bhawan, Ms. Madhvi Kataria-Disability commissioner-Chandigarh, Dolly Guleria, Punjabi folk singer and Mr. Praveen Ambashta—Deputy Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. The first day saw a packed audience. The play "Intezaar" captured the hearts of the audience. This play was directed and written by the national awardee, Danish Mahajan.

The second day highlight of the show was the fashion show for persons with disabilities. And the winners are:

Low vision female category:

Winner – Swati Singla, Runnerup – Aarti maanmode

Low Vision male category:

Winner – Buddha Lama, Runnerup – Dr. Hitesh Prasad

Totally blind female category:

Winner – Megha Gupta, Runnerup Kratika Sharma

Totally blind male category:

Winner – Devraju G., Runner-up – Maninder Singh

The Purple Runway of Dreams was a transformative event that challenged societal perceptions and redefined beauty standards. The pageant and fashion show allowed visually impaired participants to shine on the runway, highlighting their unique styles, personalities, and confidence. Contestants walked the runway in stylish, customized outfits, breaking stereotypes and celebrating the beauty of diversity.The winners of this competition for a total of Rs 200000. Cash prizes were awarded. The collection designed by Delhi based renowned fashion designer Anupam Taneja under the label DAT.

The event also raised awareness for people with disabilities. Radio Udaan envisions a society where people with disabilities are celebrated for their abilities, contributions, and achievements. Through its programs, the station seeks to eliminate stereotypes, promote equal opportunities, and inspire a world that values diversity and inclusion.

Radio Udaan’s mission is to create an inclusive platform that empowers People with disabilities by amplifying their voices, talents, and aspirations. The station aims to bridge societal gaps by spreading awareness, offering education, and fostering meaningful conversations on disability rights, inclusion, and personal development.Radio Udaan operates under the Udaan Empowerment Trust and provides a platform for visually challenged People to lead and participate in programming that includes; education and awareness with Informative shows on disability rights, entertainment with purpose with engaging content like music, debates, plays, and storytelling, skill development program aim to give an opportunities for visually impaired people  to become RJs, presenters, and community Engagement to Hosting national conventions etc.

Mr. & Ms. Beauty Pageant 2025 have once again proven that the fashion world is not just about clothes but about creating experiences and moments that resonate long after the runway lights fade. The enthusiastic team of Radio Udaan, includingMinal Singhvi (Director), Danish Mahajan (Founder and General Secretary), Saif Rehman (Joint Secretary), Jyoti Malik (Program Manager), Rajeev Bhambri (Advisor), Puneet Soni (Trustee), Rajendar Johny (Trustee), Sanjeev Raju (Trustee) and Ashish Singla (Trustee), made the Purple Runway of Dreams—a Fashion Feat—a reality.

Many supporters have come forward to support a cause like the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Savlon Swasthya Mission, ITC, HDFC Mutual Fund, Union Bank of India, Smart on, NFB Karnataka, Deepstambh, Mitra Jyothi, Babusa Commando Force, The Jewel Story, Shreya Makeovers, and NAB Delhi.

Radio Udaan aims to expand its reach by embracing modern technologies, introducing international programming, and fostering collaborations with global organizations working toward disability inclusion. They will produceinnovative ideas and creative shows again every year.
