Mumbai Zonal Unit Busts Major Drug Syndicate

Mumbai, January 31, 2025: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Drug-Free India (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and under the directives of Union Home Minister, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai Zonal Unit achieved a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking syndicates operating in Mumbai and across India.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 11.540 kgs of high-grade cocaine, 4.9 kgs of hybrid strain hydroponic weed (ganja), 200 packets (5.5 kgs) of cannabis gummies, and INR 1,60,000 from Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra on January 31, 2025. This success follows the NCB Mumbai's earlier seizure of 200 gms of cocaine in January 2025.

The initial seizure involved a parcel at an international courier agency in Mumbai, destined for Australia. Through a combination of technical and human intelligence, the NCB traced the supply chain back to a bulk quantity concealed in Navi Mumbai. The investigation has revealed the syndicate's operation by individuals based abroad, with the contraband sourced from the USA to Mumbai and distributed within India and abroad through couriers, small cargo services, and human carriers.

Four individuals have been arrested so far, all using pseudonyms in day-to-day dealings to maintain anonymity. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further connections within the syndicate.
