Criminal Case Filed against OTT Balaji ALT for Airing obscene content, Court Issued notice to Delhi Police.

Complaint Demanding FIR under POCSO Act,BNS, Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and IT ACT.

A Delhi court has issued a notice to the Delhi Police for not taking action and failing to register an FIR under various sections of the law against OTT platform Balaji ALT and its director Ekta Kapoor, among others. The sections involved include Section 11 of the POCSO Act, Sections 294, 295, and 296 of the Indian Penal Code, Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and Section 67 of the IT Act.
Advocate Vineet Jindal, representing the complainant, Uday Maholkar (former RTI Commissioner of India and founder of the NGO Save Culture Save Bharat), stated that the complaint was filed against Balaji ALT for airing obscene and pornographic content on its platform. According to the complaint, such content violates the laws of the land and constitutes an offense under the aforementioned sections.
Despite the complaint, Delhi Police did not file an FIR against the OTT platform or its director. Consequently, the complainant approached the CJM, Saket Court, seeking directions to take action against Balaji ALT and its directors by Lodging FIR. 
The court after hearing Arguments, now issued  notice to the Delhi Police, seeking an action taken report on the complaint filed by the complainant. The next date of hearing has been set for March 6, 2025.

Advocate Jindal emphasized that the content aired by Balaji ALT violates the laws of our land and falls under the category of criminal acts. This step aims to hold accountable those who attempt to harm the cultural and moral fabric of our society and negatively influence the youth.
