Empowering Nutrition: Workshop on Wheat Flour Fortification

Millers for Nutrition, in collaboration with the Gujarat Roller Flour Millers Association and Fortify Health, organized a training workshop on wheat flour fortification in Ahmedabad. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed government officials, including Mr. Vipul Rana, Designated Officer, Food Safety and Drug Administration Gujarat, Mr. Navneet Chitlangia, President of the Roller Flour Millers Federation of India (RFMFI), and Mr. Sandeep Gill, General Manager Operations, The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

The workshop also included our valued strategic fortification partners — BioAnalyt, dsm-firmenich, Hexagon Nutrition Limited, and Piramal Nutrition Solutions, who provided valuable insights into the benefits and future of wheat flour fortification.

Key Highlights:

  • The event marked the launch of Fortified Wheat Flour by several millers affiliated with GRFMA.

  • The fortified wheat flour will be available in open markets in 5 kg to 50 kg packaging.

  • This initiative aims to combat malnutrition across India, where nearly 50% of women, 25% of men, and about 67% of children under five years are anemic.

Let’s work together to make fortified staple products widely available and combat micronutrient malnutrition in India!
