Three temples attacked, vandalised in Chittagong's Patharghata Officials claim hundreds of people hurled bricks, vandalised buildings

Anchor:- Three temples belonging to the minority Hindu community were allegedly attacked and vandalised in Patharghata in Chittagong, where protests and violence have been going on for the past few days.
The attack took place at around 2:30 pm at Harish Chandra Munsef Lane, where the Shantaneshwari Matri Mandir, the nearby Shani Mandir and the Shantaneshwari Kalibari Mandir were targeted.
According to the temple administration, a group of hundreds of people raising slogans hurled bricks and stones at the temples, damaging the gates of the Shani Mandir and two other temples. However, police said that there was little damage to the temples after the clash between the two sides. According to the police, both groups hurled bricks and stones at each other.
"A procession of hundreds of people came after Friday prayers. They started raising anti-Hindu and anti-ISKCON slogans," a member of the Shantaneshwari main temple management committee and a leader of the Harish Chandra Munsef Lane community told Ymedia.live News.
The attackers started attacking the main gate of Shantaneshwari temple and threw bricks and stones. At that time, they vandalized the Shani temple and also attacked the Kali temple. Several nearby shops were also targeted. In which many people have reportedly been injured.
According to the Hindu community member, the people of Hindu society did not stop the attackers. When the situation worsened, we called the army, which arrived immediately and tried to handle the situation. According to him, the temple managers had closed the gates of all the temples before noon. The miscreants came without any provocation and attacked. "
The police officer of Kotwali police station of this area of Bangladesh confirmed the attack and said that the attackers tried to damage the temples. Talking to Ymedia.live News, he said, "Both sides threw bricks and stones at each other. The miscreants attacked the temple and the police reached there and intervened to control the situation between the two sides. Although there is no tension in the area right now, the situation is a bit sensitive. Since the tension, despite calls for peace and restraint from the government and political parties, a tense atmosphere remains in Chittagong.
