Leader of opposition party and the Congress MP Rahul Gandhi requests government to declare Wayanad Landslide a national disaster as it tolls life of over 200 and innumerable missing, which all sums up to almost 400. Rahul praises the government for being supportive to the tragedy.

Maimed at the Kerela’s disaster, the congress MP calls for higher compensation for the people affected in the same. He himself visited the place and witnessed the tragedy: “in some cases, an entire family is gone, with just one person remaining, sometimes an adult or a child”, he said.

The death toll raised to 224 in the Wayanad landslide case, the search of dead bodies and people missing was still executed on the eight-day of the disaster.

It was 30^th July, 2024 when massive rain caused landslides in the Wayanad district of Kerala. As reported, 570mm of two days consecutive squall made this landslide happen. Areas such as Punjrimattom, Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, Meppadi and Kunhome were affected where numerous were killed who included inhabitants and workers of the farms.
