INDIAN WRESTLER VINESH PHOGAT ELIMINATED FROM PARIS OLYMPICS DUE TO OVERWEIGHT

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat disqualified after she was over-weighed by 100 grams for her category in the Olympics. The wrestler was the first ever Indian women to reach the Olympics final in the same category when all hopes shattered as she got eliminated from the entire tournament.

Millions of Indians hoped for gold as Vinesh herself did when she showed her brilliance in the Paris Olympics and reached the final. She mounted excellent when she defeated the four-times Yui Susaki world champion earlier in the tournament. Vinesh generally competed in the category of 53 kgs but weighed down to 50 kgs for the Olympics. The wrestler was found 100 grams over weight earlier in the morning which was out of the tournament rules that made her disqualify entirely. Indian sports officials talked with Olympics authority but the later did not grant their request.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised all her resilience, perseverance of fighting with challenges and motivated her saying: “come back stronger! We are all rooting for you”.
