Jay Shah is set to become the new ICC (International Cricket Council) chairman. He will assume his role from December onwards. He was the only candidate nominated unopposed by 15 ICC members of the board.

“I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council. I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalize cricket. We stand at a critical juncture where it is increasingly important to balance the coexistence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies, and introduce our marquee events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before,” said Shah after ICC nominated him as the chairman.

Shah has been the BCCI (Board of Control of Cricket in India) chairman from the year 2019. Shah’s tenure as ICC chairman shall commence from 1 December 2024 succeeding New Zealand’s Grek Barkley, who doesn’t want to pursue the post for the third time. 35 years old Jay Shah is the youngest ever to reach the seat of the ICC chairman.
