40 children got injured and 4 were in serious condition after a portion of a balcony fell off in a private school in Uttar Pradesh yesterday. It was at Awadh Academy School in UP’s Barabanki the incident happened when several children were gathered at the time of school assembly. The balcony was structured on weak constructions on which children were standing, when suddenly it collapsed. The news spread consequently over the town, police rushed to the spot and people gathered.

“During the morning assembly, several children ended up on the balcony while coming downstairs and the balcony's foundation must have been weak, which is why it collapsed," said Barabanki police officials. The injured children were taken to trauma centre of the district hospital for treatment.
