OPD services and elective surgeries remain suspended today for a whole day across the country just after a week of the Kolkata doctor murder case. Thousands of doctors in different states have emerged to the streets with their protest and declaration against the rape-murder of 31 years old PG trainee.

Junior doctors from Osmania Medical College and Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences call for silent rallies chanting “no safety, no duty”; IIT Bombay’s students march on under their banner “IIT-B for Justice”. Hundreds of junior doctors in Gandhinagar and in other cities sit for strike amidst their slogans. Throughout Madhya Pradesh almost 3,000 doctors boycott their duties and go on strikes. In other states also like Bhopal’s AIIMS, Goa Medical College, Patna Medical College, doctors come down to the streets to raise protest. Almost 400 interns, doctors from Bowring Hospital, Lady Curzon Hospital, Gosha Hospital, Charaka Hospital attempt for a candle light march today.

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi posted on her social about the necessary investigation to be executed upon the doctor’s murder case. She asserts that the lack and delay of proper investigation is heightening the level of protest throughout the country, making the “doctors’ strike” an international news. She mentions inevitable investigation measures for the particular case:
