Federation of All India Medical Association (FIAMA) has summoned a nationwide cease on OPD services from Tuesday in protest of the rape-murder case of Kolkata doctor. Indian Medical Association (IMA) looks for immediate enactment of special central law to restrain violence against doctors besides assuring that the hospitals are safe zones for women. IMA claims that there are laws available on attacks upon doctors and hospitals in 25 states but they are still ineffective in most of the cases serving no good to the medical departments. While writing to the Health Minister J P Nadda, IMA asked for certain security demands for which resident doctors hold countrywide protest in Government hospitals in protest of the Kolkata doctor’s murder.

As per reports, IMA demands for: law that undergoes the entitlement of the term, safe zone in both government and private hospitals, police camps and satisfactory security, mandatory and sufficient CCTV cameras at necessary points.

It was on Friday when the 31 years old PG trainee of R G Kar Medical College of Kolkata was resting on a seminar hall after her 14 hours of duty when accused Sanjay Roy raped and murdered her. The body reveals several assault injuries including blood from her mouth, eyes and private parts. It was 3 a.m. at night when Sanjay entered the seminar room and left the place after half an hour. His torn Bluetooth speaker at the crime spot was clue that helped the police to detect the suspect; CCTV cameras have recorded Sanjay with the headset when he entered the seminar room but not wearing it when he left.

The accused has history of assaulting women, marrying four times and of watching violent pornography videos. Sanjay who had easy access to the hospital premises was a civil police volunteer in the hospital. He was also found drunk when he entered the hospital premise at 3 a.m.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is about to handover the case to the CBI investigations as per reports. Kolkata HC orders CBI probe into resident doctor rape and murder case.
